Annual Notice: Water Safety & Drowning Prevention

In compliance with New York Senate Bill S1349C (Education Law Section 926), effective for the 2026–27 school year, Pawling Central School District is sharing important water safety, drowning prevention, and safe swimming information with our school community.  

Key Information & Resources

  • State Requirement: Public school districts are required to provide water safety and drowning prevention resources to all parents, guardians, and students who are 18 years of age or older at the start of each school year and upon new enrollment.  

  • Safety Tips: Informational guidance—including the New York State Department of Health's Safe Swimming Tips for Everyone card—is available to help families maintain safe, healthy swimming habits.  

  • Language Assistance & Translations: The New York State Department of Health’s Safe and Healthy Swimming webpage offers built-in translation features supporting 14 languages. Additional translations into the 12 most commonly spoken non-English languages in New York State are available upon request by a parent or guardian.
